Day 1: My story to share with all.
Written by: Merlin age 26 of The Valerian Legion, A Dissociative Identity Disorder system/Plural.
He lifted a finger up from the page, eyeing the compass seated next to me on the tray table. If only magick could save him from this misery, He thought.
Casually, He stroked the book in front of him, hoping that it would magically tell him everything he needed to hear to get through this depression a bit easier.
Instead, it simply lay limp on the desk, not a word, not a peep. Nothing.
"If I could convince the author to be a bit more persuasive with his dribbles I could get things done."
Merlin sighed after saying it out loud.
Merlin thought: This year had been the shittiest experience for us all and still I can only hope that things will settle in for a better turn of events.
Merlin stretches. "You see here. This part of the timeline is the shitty one. And this one here? The bad decisions lead to shitty experiences part. Oh and this one? The slight deviation from reality into dreams and medications that weren't good for us and lead to scary experiences with mean, cruel people on the streets."
Merlin held his finger up in the air. "But! All things can be made anew. All wounds healed. All bad decisions mended. You have but to turn about face and start the uphill battle!"
"You see, love is unwittingly the greatest force in this universe. That and chocolate. If you ever feel like the end of the world is upon on us you have but to look at the stars. You see," Merlin points to the ceiling, "Up there is where the Gods lie. They aren't wastes of space. Some of them actually do make dreams come true. Magick is everywhere...just not in this stupid book."
Merlin pushes the book with his hand. "If there is one thing I know for sure. Is that the universe has a way of bringing things back in three's and right now the repeating patterns of three seems to say to me...I'm not sure actually but something..."
Merlin sighs again. "You know if you grow depressed just focus on the good times. Focus on the things that make you happy. That make 'glimmers' in your vision. See darklight is a sort of strange metaphor for when you put a light under the water and it becomes dim and darkened. But we don't have to live under water. We can swim and even go on land."
"If the dream is to have a united people then there is a lot of work to do isn't there? But step 1 is first making sure your good first before you tackle on the problems of others. So what brings your soul joy? What makes you leap out the air and giggle? If you can focus on those good things. And then create something. Maybe a crochet piece. A piece of art. A poem. A piece of food. Planting something. Maybe making jewelry. Dancing. Singing. Find what gives your soul hope and then also find safety too. That is the ingredients to help you through trauma and darkness."
Merlin stands, his blue robes are made of a rich, royal blue that drag on the floor slightly. Underneath is a black tunic and black leather pants and black leather pointy boots. His hair is short and black. Deep blue eyes match the robes. In one hand he holds a pen with silver filigree. He is about 26.
"If I can bring you through that darkness, I will try. I can't guarantee that there will always be sunshine and rainbows but I can promise that I will never give up on you...the reader. The visitors. The friends."
"If you need inspiration let me be that for you. And then join me in fighting against the oppression. I have made bad decisions. I cannot undo that but I can make up for it."
Sitting back down, Merlin smirks, "You don't need to think too hard to find your way forward. Just put one foot in front of the other and try not to let the darkness swallow you. By design this world was never meant to break people so deeply as it does now. I see the design that was put forth by insidious, cruel small minded thinkers. I see the disgust of the people who hurts us all."
"So my dear readers, let not the darkness take you away from me or this world. Break the darkness with a flashlight. And get a cozy blanket too. Maybe go inside, even if its just a box. Huddle close and pray to whomever you do and know that each day is a new day. Each hour too. A lot can change in a matter of hours, days, weeks or months or years."
"So keep hope alive because I am alive too and so I will share my hope with you. Here."
Merlin casts a sparkling spell that winds around him towards the reader. "Shine bright. Shine strong. Let not the darkness tarry long. In dreams and in hearts let the rainbow grow strong. When you think again you will remember only good thoughts and hope. Clear your mind and focus, if it be me than great, if not that's okay."
"Somehow we will find a way through this dark abyss that is the United States and while I am still not yet ready to tackle it head on, I promise you that I haven't forgotten and I will never surrender. I will never give up. Not on you. Not on me. Not on my system. And certainly not on people who I greatly care about."
Merlin bows.
